ConstellR one of the winners of the ESA startup competition!

ConstellR, startup from the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg, could prevail against a big number of competitors and reached a joint third place. Each startup presented their business proposals to delegates online at ESA’s Industrial Policy Committee meeting on 29 June. ConstellR’s idea is to offer a land surface temperature monitoring service based on a CubeSat constellation and Copernicus data. This way, agriculture shall become more efficient and greener.

right. based on science, climate change startup from the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg, used its proprietary X-Degree Compatibility (XDC) Model to analyse the climate impact until 2050 of all stocks included in the ‘Solactive Europe 600’ index since 2013. Now the index provider Solactive released the ‘Solactive right. 2 Degree-Aligned Europe Index’ based on right. based on Science’s XDC Economic Climate Impact Model. It is a benchmark index based on a broad portfolio of sector-leading European companies aligned with a 2°C global warming scenario through 2050. right.’s software enables clients to measure the contribution of a company or a portfolio to climate change. Results are expressed as a tangible °C value. Originally, they planned to use Earth Observation data for their calculations.

Darmstadt/Oberhausen, 30. Juni 2020. Branchenspezialisierung auf beiden Seiten: Die L-One Systems GmbH hat den Verkauf ihrer cloudbasierten Software Shaufel für Friedhofsgärtnereien und Floristen an die Terra Software GmbH aus Oberhausen abgeschlossen. Das Darmstädter Unternehmen geht damit den nächsten konsequenten Schritt in der Ausrichtung auf seine Kernkompetenzen Natural Language Processing (NLP) und IT-Outstaffing-Services. Terra Software hingegen stärkt seine Positionierung in der grünen Branche mit der Übernahme der Branchenlösung einschließlich des langjährigen Kundenstamms. L-One Systems wurde 2012 in das ESA BIC in Darmstadt aufgenommen. Essenziell für die Aufnahme war ein Raumfahrtbezug, der in der Nutzung von Satellitennavigationsdaten für die Smartphone-App Shaufel lag. Dadurch können z. B. Friedhofsgärtner die Gräber ihrer Kunden leichter finden.

Responsible Minds Against Environmental Crimes

The startup Xylene from the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg won the Galileo.Copernicus Synergy Challenge in 2019. They convinced the jury with their idea to boost trust in timber. The founders' intention was to revolutionise the way wood is offered on the market, based on a transparent documentation of the wood supply chain and the tracking of timber products. The combination of Satellite Navigation and Earth Observation helps them achieving a highly accurate and authentic record of Chain of Custody. In the near future, Xylene want to standardise their product in order to apply it to other raw material industries.

Xylene and ConstellR have been selected by ESA experts to be among the 10 best startups of 101 valid proposals. They can now reach one of the first three places and with it the chance to attend the Global Space Congress as well as to receive mentoring. Deep Blue Globe, HOSTmi and Panda Insight are among the top 50 startups shortlisted by ESA.
