Challenge Statement

The challenge is to redesign cosy.green’s AI-driven heating optimization system interface, making it more intuitive, engaging, and accessible for property managers, tenants, and installers, while promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.

Introduction:

Climate change and rising energy costs are driving the need for smarter, more efficient heating solutions. cosy.green is pioneering this revolution with its AI-driven heating optimization system for multi-unit residential buildings. We challenge you to reimagine the user experience for our solution, creating intuitive and engaging interfaces that cater to three key user groups: property managers, tenants, and installers.

The Challenge

Your mission is to design innovative user interfaces that simplify energy-efficient heating control, encourage sustainable behaviors, and streamline the installation process. Consider how we can leverage technology to make energy efficiency not just smart, but also accessible and engaging for all users.

The Background

cosy.green is a start-up that has been incubated in our ESA BIC Hessen programme.

Possible Approaches

Impulses for possible directions:

For Tenants:

  • How can we make energy-saving engaging and even fun?
  • What would motivate tenants to actively participate in energy conservation?
  • How can we balance automation with user control to ensure comfort and efficiency?

For Property Managers:

  • How can complex building data be visualized in an easily digestible format?
  • What features would empower managers to make informed decisions across multiple properties?
  • How might predictive analytics be presented to aid in long-term planning?

For Installers:

  • How can we design a "fool-proof" onboarding process for our system components?
  • What tools or visual aids could guide installers through each step of the setup?
  • How might we incorporate troubleshooting assistance within the installer interface?

General Considerations:

  • How can we integrate weather data in a meaningful way for each user group What innovative technologies (e.g., AR, voice control) could enhance the user experience?
  • How can the interface adapt to users with different needs and preferences?

We encourage you to think outside the box and consider novel approaches to user interaction. Your solution should aim to make energy efficiency intuitive, engaging, and impactful for all user groups.
