About Dipteron

Dipteron is an application for detecting Aedes mosquito risk areas. Zika, Dengue and Chikungunya are viral diseases transmitted by the same mosquito, the Aedes species. In recent years the spread of these diseases has become a worldwide issue for public health. The rapid spread of the Aedes mosquito has affected vast areas which cannot be monitored using terrestrial methods alone.

Early identification of vulnerable areas is crucial to control the advancement of diseases.

Dipteron, referring to ‘insects with a single pair of functional wings’, has developed an application for detecting the risk areas of the Aedes mosquito, deriving environmental and climatic factors from satellite data, especially Earth Observation data.
