Darmstadt University of Technology (TU Darmstadt) is one of the best universities of technology in Germany. TU Darmstadt demonstrates its leading position in research, quality of teaching and qualification for best chances and positions according to renowned rankings of the German Research Foundation, the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation, the Centre for Higher Education Development and corresponding surveys of personnel directors of major companies.

TU Darmstadt is the first autonomous university in Germany. It is receiving an annual budget of € 238 million from the federal state of Hesse (2009, incl. construction funds). The innovation of TU Darmstadt is expressed as well in third-party-funds growing annually: € 95 million (2009) from industry, the German Research Foundation and the European Union make her rank among the top universities in Germany.

About 270 professors, 3500 staff members and 21.000 students dedicate themselves to important fields of the future like communication and information technology, energy and mobility, construction and living conditions. ​Telespazio VEGA Deutschland GmbH was born in summer 2012 when Telespazio Deutschland GmbH and VEGA Space GmbH (already shareholder of cesah GmbH) were merged.

While the roots of Telespazio Deutschland may be traced back to the Thomson CSF Group (now Thales), being active in space missions since the 1970s, VEGA Space’s heritage dates back to 1978 and the company’s first frame contract with ESA.
